CHRIS PRICE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The 2011 Chris Price Memorial Education Scholarship will award one scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 The scholarship is available to any child under the age of 18 who is currently enrolled in any accredited educational institution and who has lost a parent to a bike ride.

One scholarship will be awarded to one applicant who meets the specified criteria. Selection will be based on applicant’s talents, skills, community service, leadership abilities, recommendations, academic achievements, and committee’s observations. Before the scholarship award is granted, the selected applicant must provide verification that he/she is enrolled in an accredited academic institution.

In order to qualify for this award, the applicant must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a currently enrolled student in an accredited academic institution.
  2. Submit with the application a copy of your official transcript, GED verification or college transcript.
  3. Submit (3) letters of recommendation from a teacher, administrator, coach, group sponsor, employer, community leader, or family member.  Each letter of recommendation must be sealed to receive points.
  4. Applicants must write an essay explaining why the applicant feels he/she should be considered for the scholarship. Include a description of how the scholarship will be used and the difference the scholarship will make.  Your essay must be typed and double-spaced. The essay should be a least one page. If under the age of 10, applicant will meet with a committee member for a brief interview in lieu of writing an essay.
  5. Complete the attached application. The application must be typed or printed neatly and must have a photo attached.
  6. Prior to the awarding of the scholarship, proof of enrollment in an academic institution must be submitted.
  7. To receive the scholarship, the applicant must identify a sponsor who is registered for the Chris Price Memorial Ride and attend the event, unless excused by the Committee.
